And so it begins . . .
OK, here is an attempt at doing a blog. I am not sure how often I will update, or even what I will say, but it is a start.
I guess I will start with what is going on in my life right now. I am sitting at home still weak from a bout with the flu last week. I feel pretty good, except for periods of weakness. I have been trying to rest this weekend (my weekend is Sunday and Monday, so I am a day out-of-step with everyone) so I do not know if it is from too much sleep or the aftermath of the flu.
Had a late night Saturday, my oldest brother called me and asked me if I could run him home after our show. His car had broke down at work, which is only a few miles from the theater, and he was working a 12-hour shift. I went and picked him up at 11:00pm and drove him home (about a 35-mile drive) so he could get another car and head back to work. At least it gave us a little time to visit, I was supposed to meet him for dinner last week, but had to cancel due to the flu. After I dropped him off I had another hour's drive home, with threats of thunderstorms as well. The storms held off a few hours, but woke me up around 4 or so with the rain pelting the windows.
I slept in on Sunday and tried to rest most of the day, more of the same on Monday, except for a quick trip to make a deposit and grab an early lunch and then back home.
Back to work tomorrow, hopefully my strength will be back. That is one of the drawbacks working at a small company, it is HARD to get any time off if you are sick. I would work every day last week until the time the owner comes in and then head home to bed to rest for the next day. I would have loved a couple of days in bed, but felt too guilty to ask for them.
As for a new and interesting turn in my life, I talked to my friend/girlfriend Kathlene tonight. She was traveling to a friend's wedding and was going to be gone until Saturday around noon her time. Saturday noon her time is Friday night at 10pm here in the hills of western Kentucky. Oh by the way, did I mention she lives on the other side of the world in the Philippines!?!? Technology is so amazing, I can call her and pay less per minute than I used to pay to call across the state just a few years ago! And with the internet, we can chat a couple of times a week and see each other as well with webcams!
I had never intended to get involved in a relationship with someone who did not live within driving distance, but God sometimes has things in store that do not fit into our plans, especially if we do not include Him in our planning sessions! As I try and plan a trip this fall to see Kathlene in person, I sometimes cannot believe what is happening myself!
OK, I guess I have rambled enough for starters, so until next time . . .

Hi Michael!
I'm always glad to eavesdrop on the meandering of your mind.
Welcome to the blogosphere, Michael.
I look forward to reading over your shoulder.
Welcome to blogging, Michael!
I hear you... cheap long distance is great! Have you tried Internet calling with Yahoo, GoogleTalk or Skype? I've only used Yahoo, but I've heard that Skype is great, too. With a headphone and mic, it's just like talking on the phone -- only it's free! Well worth checking out if you haven't yet.
